Fawley announces retirement after distinguished career with Logansport Parks & Recreation
After a career dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for community members through parks and recreation, Janet Fawley, Parks Administrator for the Logansport Parks & Recreation Department, has announced her retirement effective December 31, 2026.
Fawley has served the Logansport community with a deep commitment to public service, leading the Parks Department and working alongside staff and the Parks Board to develop programs, facilities, and opportunities that have positively impacted generations of residents.
“It has been my honor to serve our community by leading the staff and board as the Parks Administrator for the Logansport Parks & Recreation Department,” said Fawley. “I have a great deal of love for our parks and am grateful for the opportunity to help people improve their lives through parks and recreation.”
Throughout her career, Fawley viewed parks and recreation as more than facilities and programs. As a trained parks professional, she has dedicated her life’s work to creating opportunities for residents to improve their health, build community connections, develop skills, and enjoy meaningful recreational experiences.
Under her leadership, the department has continued its mission of providing quality parks, recreation programs, and community spaces that enrich the lives of Logansport residents.
As she prepares for retirement, Fawley expressed confidence in the future of the department and the leadership that will follow.
“I am confident in those on our Parks Staff and the Parks Board to continue the work of our department under new leadership,” Fawley said. “New leadership will bring fresh ideas and continue to enhance our community parks and recreational opportunities.”
Fawley noted that she is committed to ensuring a smooth transition and has offered her assistance during and after the leadership change. In addition, Fawley will serve as project manager for the Logansport Parks & Recreation Foundation as they continue the work of the proposed Community Parks Initiative Grant.
Reflecting on her career, Fawley expressed gratitude to the many staff members, board members, community partners, and residents she has worked with throughout the years.
“Please accept my gratitude for the many wonderful moments and friendships I have made throughout my career,” she said. “I am grateful for the life that Parks & Recreation has provided for me and my family. I will miss serving this community, but I know the department’s future is bright.”
Fawley’s retirement will become effective on December 31, 2026. For more information go to LogansportParks.com or call 574-753-6969 or email ParksInfo@Logansport.IN.Gov .
